Some people may say that when couples elope it is mostly because they dislike an imposing wedding with lots of relatives and friends, or that they wish to avoid objections from parents or religious obligations. Such an opinion is linked with the literally sense of the verb «to elope» which means to run away and to not come back to the point of origination. Today it is more likely to understand an elopement as a wedding, on which intimacy, authenticity and aesthetics are very important for the bridal couple – they want to create a unique and very intimate event just for them.
